Welcome to AP Biology

This is the course website for Mrs. Brooks AP Biology course at NUAMES. The two main goals of AP Biology are to help students develop a conceptual framework for modern biology and to help students gain an appreciation of science as a process. Students are encouraged to focus on understanding important relationships, processes, mechanisms, and potential extensions and applications of concepts. This course is designed to prepare students for the Advanced Placement Biology Exam in the spring. Please see the Collegeboard Website for details.

For Students: Use the links in the Assignments and Lecture Materials section to find important study information. The current format of this class uses a partial "flipped" model, where readings, pre-discussion questions (PDQ's) and quizzes will be completed on your own time PRIOR to associated class lectures, activities, and labs. Please DO NOT fall behind on these readings and quizzes, as they will provide essential information for class discussions.

AP Biology Labs: Labs will be held after school on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, check the class calendar for specific dates. These labs are MANDATORY for ALL AP Biology students and will be graded separately from your class grade. They will be difficult to make up so please arrange your schedule as necessary. Many labs will have a Flow Chart that must be completed prior to the lab day. Labs help reinforce information discussed in class and will better prepare you for the AP Biology Exam and a future in science.
